| | | [Engine swap] The most compatible engine | Sat 1 Oct à 14:31 by Hadoq el beatsmith | The engine swap is the best performance upgrade you could to for your beloved ride, this is only the first article about the ultimate performance mod, there will be more, and hopefully a tutorial with pictures.
Based on our techie's first impressions, the best choice for an engine swap would be a 50cc horizontal minarelli (yamaha aerox's engine), liquid cooled. The mounting type is quite similar on both engines (stock and minarelli Hz), and it appears to be the best choice, in terms of doability, price, and potential of performance increase.
The horizontal minarelli is well known in the scooter tuning sceen, and that for several reasons:
- it's easily upgradable
there are many aftermarket parts for this block, big bore kits and other performance mods, you could upgrade it with some iron, easy to tune 70cc, or with some high end racing aluminium kit.
- in terms of pure potential performance, it's really close to the almighty piaggio block, it's liquid cooled and it's also avalaible with a rear disc brake.
Hopefully, we'll be able to start this project during next year so I'll keep yall updated.
